It can be eaten with its peel, or only the sweet flesh can be scooped out and eaten, the seed is to be discarded.


Sapota, also known as Chiku is delectably sweet with a smooth or grainy texture and a light musky taste. It is a delicious tropical fruit, which contains a smooth brown coloured outer skin that slightly resembles a smooth-skinned potato. Its tissue ranges from a pale yellow to an earthy brown colour and contains black, soft, glossy, inedible seeds located at its center.
